美國能源部（Department of Energy）簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)DOE。DOE依據美國能效相關(guān)法規頒布了DOE認證，這便是DOE認證的來(lái)源。
DOE頒布DOE認證其主要的目的是節能減排、幫助用戶(hù)節約電能，從而達到降低能耗需求、減少溫室效應等相關(guān)作用。現在所有在DOE認證范疇內的產(chǎn)品都需要滿(mǎn)足新法令法規的要求。

美國聯(lián)邦法規:10CFR429和10CFR430；
其中10CFR429規定了樣品選用規范和報告規范；
10CFR430規定了測試方法和符合性宣告規范。
